Pherzawl Express bus to resume service on November 30
Manipur State Road Transport Corporation will resume Pherzawl-Imphal Express bus service from November 30, according to official sources.
“The bus will start at 8 am from Transport Office at Bijang, opposite Hmarveng in Churachandpur. For now service will be till district headquarter Pherzawl,” the source said on being asked about the final destination.
The service was stopped within few days after it was flagged off from Imphal by Chief Minister Pu Biren Singh earlier this year. The drivers had complained of difficulties in navigating the long and low-floor level bus in the hill roads known for many curves.
Citizens’ Initiative for Development and Empowerment months later reached out to Pu Birenji via his adviser Pu Rajat Sethi to provide an alternative. As promised, the government kept its words and earlier this month, Pu Biren announced the procurement of a shorter and high-floored bus for Pherzawl District.

“We sincerely thank Pu Birenji and Pu Rajatji for taking note of our grievances and finding a solution. We also hope that our request to let the bus service till the historic village of Senvon for benefit of larger sections of people,” Citizens’ Initiative for Development and Empowerment said in a statement today.
