Two trains arrive with 1476 passengers, including those from Pherzawl District

Jiribam, May 21 2020: Two special trains from Hyderabad and Dehradun arrived at Jiribam railway station at 10 am and 6.10 pm respectively bringing a total of 1476 stranded State natives.

The train from Hyderabad was the seventh and the one from Dehradun was the eighth to bring back Manipuri people stranded in different parts of the country on account of the COVID-19 lockdown.

The train from Hyderabad brought back 331 State natives and they were taken to their respective districts by bus.

The buses took 29 passengers to Ukhrul, 31 to Chandel and Pallel, 39 to Senapati and Kangpokpi, 64 to Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Pherzawl, 22 to Thoubal and Kakching, 62 to Imphal West, 54 to Imphal East, Kamjong and Noney, 12 to Tamenglong and 18 to Jiribam.

The 1145 people brought back by the train from Dehradun included 32 from Ukhrul, 48 from Churachandpur and Pherzawl, 35 from Chandel and Tengnoupal, 30 from Senapati, 10 from Tamenglong, 35 from Kangpokpi, 333 from Thoubal, 49 from Kakching, 75 from Bishnupur, 216 from Imphal West, 252 from Imphal East, 18 from Noney, five from Kamjong and seven from Jiribam.

Passengers of both the trains were made to get down in district-wise manner as done earlier.

After providing packaged food and water, all of them were subjected to thermal screening.

Later they were given bus tickets for their respective districts.

The returnees would remain in isolation at community quarantine centres of their respective districts for 14 days.

More trains are also expected to arrive in the coming days from different cities of the country.
